Academic Success and Tutoring Center (ASTC)

-Tutoring for the summer will begin on Wednesday, June 15th!


Online Tutoring with SCC Tutors:
Academic Success and Tutoring Center services are available to students by self-registering at the following Canvas link: https://solano.instructure.com/enroll/EKEA7Y

To be able to connect with the tutors in Canvas, students need to enroll to the ASTC Canvas shell. This is a free service for all SCC students, and it can be added at any time during the semester. It will never appear on transcripts and will not affect financial aid. To enroll, simply click on the following link: https://solano.instructure.com/enroll/EKEA7Y. This will open up Canvas, and you will need to click on the "Enroll in this Course" button.

Solano Community College Instructional Assistants (IAs) are working on Zoom via Canvas. Our IAs are online, ready, and willing to help students. Click on the following PDF for more information about connecting with ASTC Tutors over Zoom:

In-Person Tutoring with SCC Tutors:
 Our hours for in-person tutoring hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00AM-2:00PM. 

Important Information for In-person tutoring appointments:  

  • We’re on the first floor of the new Library and Learning Resource Center (LLRC) in the northwest corner, room 114.
  • You must check in with the staff when you first enter the room.

NetTutor
Additionally, all Solano Community College students are able to access free online tutoring through NetTutor.
Simply log in to Canvas, pick a course, and on the side there is a link for NetTutor. Online math tutoring is available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Writing assignments can be submitted 24 hours a day, every day of the week and all writing submissions to NetTutor will maintain a 48-72 hour turnaround time. All other subjects will follow the NetTutor subject hours for the semester.

A recent study done by Solano's Research & Planning Department shows that, on average, those who use the ASTC academically outperform those who don't use our services.**

**Research & Planning Department’s survey was July 2018: Retention – ASTC users 92.4% vs. non-ASTC users 88.4%; Success rates – ASTC users 77% vs. non-ASTC users 70%; Average term GPA – ASTC users 2.40 vs. non-ASTC users 2.09; Students who ultimately drop or fail class – only 6.3% visited the ASTC.
