National Tour for Young Entrepreneurs Presents at Solano College
Fairfield, CA - The power of the entrepreneurial spirit takes California by storm as The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour visits 18 community colleges across the state, through November ‘09.
Solano College hosts the national tour Monday, November 9th at Solano College, Building 1400, Cafeteria on campus from 2 to 6 pm. Students will hear stories from award winning young entrepreneurs who reveal their inspiring wild dreams and wild rides. Students may register to attend at www.extremetour.org/ca
INSTILLING AN ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET
The purpose of the tour is to inspire college students to graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset. The tour features California’s top young entrepreneurs who've made, earned or sold companies for millions of dollars and/or made a huge impact before the age of 30.
One speaker, Cameron Johnson (24) from Los Angeles, started profitable businesses and became a self-made millionaire while he was still a teenager. Another speaker, Rahim Fazal (27) from San Francisco, sold his first business for $1.5 million as he was graduating from high school. Fazal is the co-founder and CEO of the venture-backed company, Involver.
“Bringing the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour to our campus is an out-of-the-box strategy that taps a largely overlooked resource: the creativity and energy of our young people,” announced Charles Eason, Director of the Solano College Small Business Development Center. “Technology and globalization have made it affordable to start a business, and this event paves the way for youth to realize the possible success of being a business owner, even at a young age.”
Since the tour was created in 2006, it has presented 100 events in 30 states, reaching 100,000 students across the country. Locally, the tour is presented by the California Community Colleges Economic Workforce Development Program, Solano College and Solano College Small Business Development Center.
