![]() News 10/19/09 - SCC and Brandman University Sign Dual Admissions Agreement Fairfield, CA – Officials from Solano Community College (SCC) and Brandman University signed an Early Advantage Educational Partnership on Monday, October 19th, that will ensure that students who participate in the program are guaranteed acceptance to Brandman University upon completion of their associate’s degree at SCC.
Brandman University Chancellor Gary Brahm, and Vice Chancellor of Enrollment and Student Affairs Saskia Knight, and Solano Community College Superintendent/President Dr. Jowel Laguerre signed the agreement in a special ceremony, following introduction of staff from their respective organizations and presentation of the advantages to students and the community.“The state and communities that we serve expect that we will assist our students in advancing toward their four-year degree,” stated SCC’s Superintendent/President Dr. Jowel Laguerre. “This agreement gives Solano Community College students another opportunity to move forward in the face of statewide budget cuts.” “It’s reassuring for students at Solano Community College to know that the Early Advantage Partnership (EAP) will provide them with access to a quality higher education at Brandman University once they complete their prerequisite course work at the community college,” Brahm said. “These types of partnerships between community colleges and Brandman University will continue to play an important role in students pursuing a higher education especially at a time when the economic crisis is forcing the California State University and University of California systems to limit enrollments.” Under the terms of the EAP, SCC students enrolled in the program and who wish to attend Brandman University’s Fairfield campus will have access to enhanced cooperative academic and student services including the University’s advising services, information sessions, technology support, academic catalogs and educational plans. It will also allow students to transfer credit through its Web Advisor as well as offer personalized career counseling while still attending community college and taking transferable coursework. Brandman University will waive all transfer fees for students using the early admits program. Students attending Solano are eligible to enroll in the EAP program beginning fall term 2009, and can take transferable coursework in the following programs: Applied Studies, Business, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Legal Studies, Liberal Studies/Multiple Subjects Teaching, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, Social Science, and Sociology/Social Work Emphasis. They can earn a Brandman University bachelor degree through classes at the campus just blocks from SCC.
Community college students are eligible to transfer to Brandman University anytime up to one year after their last term of attendance at SCC. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and must attend at least one academic term/semester at the community college before entering into the program.Earlier this year Chapman University College announced that it changed its name to Brandman University.
