Terri Pearson-Bloom, Head Coach
Terri Pearson-Bloom enters her eighth season at Solano having compiled a 182-112-1 record at the Fairfield campus.
Pearson-Bloom brings a wealth of knowledge about the game of softball and has turned the Solano program into one of the most respected in Northern California. Pearson-Bloom led the Falcons to back-to-back Bay Valley Conference championships
in 2006 and 2007. Solano went 33-18 overall and 20-4 in conference games. In 2006, the
team finished with a 23-1 mark in conference games and a 31-14 record overall. The coach was named BVC Coach of the Year in 2006 and several of her players earned postseason honors. Pearson-Bloom also had two players sign during the early signing period that year and one at the end of the season.
Pearson-Bloom continues to make academics a priority and was pleased to announce in 2007 that the team was ranked in the nation for the sixth straight year for their overall team GPA. Solano sets the standard in the Bay Valley Conference with one of the best academic and athletic programs around. Last year alone, four Falcons were named NFCA Academic All-Americans, the most in one season since Pearson-Bloom has been at Solano. Since her arrival at Solano, Pearson-Bloom has coached 12 Academic All-Americans.
The Falcons have had a ton of success on the field as well under Pearson-Bloom’s tutelage. In 2005, Solano finished 29-13-1 overall, earning a Northern California playoff berth. Unfortunately, the Falcons finished second in the Bay Valley Conference and lost in the double-elimination portion of the event, but gained plenty of experience. Four players moved on to four-year universities.
In 2004, the Falcons finished the season with a 22-14 overall record and Pearson-Bloom watched four players continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year schools.
In 2003, Pearson-Bloom’s Falcons posted a 25-19 record, 7-11 in conference, and took fourth place in the Bay Valley Conference’s Gold Division.
In 2002, the Falcons finished 18-19, 13-9 in conference and 8-7 overall, good enough for a third place finish in the Gold Division.
In her first season at Solano, she led the Falcons to a 24-15 overall record, claiming first place in the Silver Division with a 7-3 record. The team finished with a 13-4 conference record and made a regional appearance. Before coming to Solano, Pearson-Bloom served as the head coach for one year with the Virginia Roadsters of the Women’s Professional Softball League during the 1999-2000 season where her team finished second place in the regular season. Pearson-Bloom was selected to coach in the All-Star Game.
Pearson-Bloom’s coaching career began at St. Mary’s College in Moraga where she served as an assistant from 1995-96. She moved on to the University of Tennessee and was an assistant for the Lady Vols for three seasons (1997-99). She was a standout player at Cal State Northridge where she led the team to four regional appearances and three World Series appearances while batting leadoff and playing in the outfield.
In her final season at Northridge, the team advanced to the national championship game where it eventually lost to Arizona.
Pearson-Bloom’s list of former players include Nebraska coach Jennifer Kline, Northridge coach Barbara Jordan, Stanford assistant Trisha Dean and UNLV assistant Sara Pickering. While at Solano, Pearson-Bloom hopes to help her players achieve their potential on the field and in the classroom. The Solano staff emphasizes fundamentals and teaches the mechanics, skills and strategies to help them succeed both as a player and a coach.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from Northridge and her masters in Physical Education from Western Illinois. While at Tennessee, she began working on another masters in Sports Psychology.
Pearson-Bloom and her husband, Andy, live in Vacaville with their three children, Samantha, 5, Cailin, 4 and Nathan,
who will be 1 in July.
