ONLINE PURCHASES

Students are urged to SHOP EARLY, and may order through the SCC Bookstore web site for shipment to their home via UPS (US mail when necessary). A credit card is REQUIRED. A shipping fee will be charged, and is not refundable. Orders cannot be held for pickup at the store. Order dates are limited—check the site for sales dates. TEXTBOOK BUY BACK

The Bookstore buys many textbooks back during advertised periods at the end of semesters, summer sessions, and between semesters. The best prices are normally paid during finals at the end of each term. At other times, most books have reduced value. Prices offered for books not needed on our campus will be at current wholesale market value.

Buy back prices vary, depending on many factors, and are subject to change at any time. Some books cannot be bought back—reasons may include: Book not used again on campus, loose leaf book, new edition available, no national market value, instructors require new only (many books with tear-out pages, blanks filled in, pass codes included, etc.), bookstore overstocked, water damage, and missing cover or contents, including disks or tapes that came with the book.

When active, buyback begins 30 minutes after the store opens, and ends 30 minutes before the store closes.

COURSE MATERIALS REFUND POLICY

Fall 2009 Deadlines

  • Fall semester course materials, purchased on or after August 3, 2009 (Nursing items or on or after July 21, 2009) may be returned for a full refund through September 4. 2009 Course materials purchased September 2 until November 3, including Open Entry/Exit Courses: Refunds allowed up to 3 business days from purchase date EXCEPTIONS—LATE-START CLASSES BEGINNING 8/31/09 THROUGH 10/30/09
  • 4 - 9 DAY CLASSES – REFUND DEADLINE IS 1 BUSINESS DAY FROM START OF CLASS
  • 4 - 12 WEEK CLASSES – REFUND DEADLINE IS 5 BUSINESS DAYS FROM START OF CLASS
  • No refunds on course materials for classes less than 4 days in length
  • No refunds on course materials purchased after November 3

GENERAL REFUND POLICY - ALL TERMS/SEMESTERS

  • Posted refund deadlines will be strictly enforced for each term/semester.
  • Textbooks for classes that are 1 - 3 days in length
  • Textbooks and merchandise purchased "new" must be in the same condition as purchased, with original packaging--no marks or damage. Books purchased "used" must be in resalable condition--no additional damage or missing pages. Workbooks that have been written in are not refundable. The bookstore reserves the right to assess the condition and salability of all returned merchandise.
  • Materials for canceled classes must be returned within two weeks after the cancellation date, or within the above deadlines.
  • Exchanges are made for defective books of the same title and edition up to 6 months from date of purchase.

There will be no refunds on:

  • Textbooks purchased before book information is posted for a semester.
  • Textbooks for fast track classes (Classes that are 1 or 2 days in length)

CHECK AND CREDIT CARD PURCHASE REFUNDS

If your purchase was made with a credit card, the refund must be credited to the same credit card account--present your card at the time of refund

If your purchase was made with a personal check, a credit voucher will be issued at the time the merchandise is returned if it is less than 15 days from the original purchase date. Credit vouchers may be applied to new purchases. Bring your selections along with the credit voucher to the cash register.

Credit vouchers cannot be replaced.  Vouchers will not be cashed for persons with outstanding debts to the College.

To receive a cash refund from your credit voucher, there is a 15-day waiting period beginning on the original purchase date. Bring your voucher to the customer service counter within the dates specified on the form. If your check is returned by the bank, refunds will be applied to the amount you owe.

FINANCIAL AID ACCOUNT REFUNDS

Purchases made on financial aid accounts must be credited to the account - no cash refunds. All purchases on financial aid accounts are subject to the same refund deadlines outlined above, and also any restrictions specified by the administrator of the program. Contact the Financial Aid office for additional information.
