requirements.
Requirements for graduation from California State
Universities include the completion of specific courses in general education. The
requirements may be met by completing a total of 48 semester units in the following
categories:
- A minimum of nine semester units in communication in the
English language, to include both oral communication and written communication, and in
critical thinking, to include consideration of common fallacies in reasoning.
- A minimum of 12 semester units to include inquiry into the
physical universe and its life forms, with some immediate participation in laboratory
activity, and in math concepts and quantitative reasoning and their applications.
- A minimum of 12 semester units from the arts, literature,
philosophy, and foreign languages.
- A minimum of 12 semester units dealing with human social,
political, and economic institutions and behavior and their historical background.
- A minimum of three semester units in study designed to equip
human beings for lifelong understanding and development of themselves as integrated
physiological and psychological entities.
Thirty-nine units of general education requirements that
are completed at Solano College may be certified on the students transcript. The
remaining nine units must be upper division courses taken at the California State
University from which the student will receive his/her Baccalaureate
Degree.
