Solano Community College

University of California, Davis
(College of Letters and Science)

The educational goals of the College are reflected in the three primary groups of requirements established by the faculty:  the English Composition Requirement, Foreign Language and Area Requirements, and the Major Requirements.

The English Composition Requirement is designed to ensure that students are well versed in the skills of written communication.

The Foreign Language and Area Requirements provide students with a broad background of knowledge, guide them in an exploration of the interdependencies of knowledge, and acquaint them with other cultures.

The Major Requirements are designed to provide students intellectual depth and competence in a selected area of study.

Students who complete the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) satisfy all lower division Breadth Requirements and the Foreign Language Requirement in the College of Letters and Science.  IGETC does not satisfy the English Composition Requirement or the Major Requirement.

Contact a counselor for details and information on specific courses to satisfy the College of Letters and Science requirements.
