Program
A basic course in pre-hospital emergency
care of ill or injured persons which is approved by Solano County
Emergency Medical Services. Course content includes: patient assessment,
cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway care, shock, bleeding control
methods, spinal injuries, fracture care, childbirth, environmental
emergencies, and safe removal from vehicle procedures. Successful
completion of the course entitles you to become certified and qualified
for employment.
Opportunities
EMT I is a pre-employment requirement for
ambulance personnel and prerequisite for enrollment in many paramedic
training programs.
EMT I qualification is commonly required
by: ski teams, search and rescue teams, fire department personnel, and
volunteer pre-hospital rescue organizations.
Students also have found EMT I training
useful in the following employment fields: firefighter, peace officer,
lifeguard, nursing assistant, and in preparation for entry into health
care occupations.
To achieve the:
EMT I Course Completion Record (CCR), the
student is required to maintain 75% minimum achievement in each the
written and skills grades throughout the course. The student actively
practices in skills lab sessions, participates as a team member in patient
care scenarios, and attends pre-scheduled time in a hospital emergency
department and on ambulance calls. The student must be at least 18 years
of age.
