Program Description
An inter-departmental program offering a two-year curriculum.
Graduates may elect to continue their studies at a four-year school or
enter the industry directly. The graduate with a major in Fashion
Merchandising should expect an entry level training position leading
toward goals such as assistant buyer, display director, department
manager, fashion coordinator, or store owner. Both full and
part-time study options are available.
Opportunities
Instruction in the Fashion Merchandising major at Solano College covers
all essential elements including merchandising, buying, advertising,
coordinating and display, fashion design, and promotion through fashion
shows.
The program is designed to prepare you for responsible positions in the
fashion industry. For those already employed in the fashion world, it
offers an opportunity to update career information and skills. The courses
are also beneficial for those interested in consumer education, the
knowledge gained enables you to become a more discriminating consumer in
today's marketplace.
Fashion Merchandising offers a variety of career opportunities for both
men and women. There are many possibilities in fashion retailing which
include positions in management, buying, visual merchandising, promotion,
and advertising.
To achieve the:
Associate in Science Degree - Completion of a total
of 60 units, including the 30-31-unit major, the general education
