» If you find your textbook on the list, come to the library's Circulation desk with your course number and instructor's name. Reserves are kept behind the Circulation Desk on your right, as you enter the library.
» Textbooks on reserve are generally available for use within the library for two-hours. Some books may be checked out for longer periods; you will be advised on the check-out period for your textbook when you come in.
Textbook Collection Development
Historically, SCC has relied on faculty donations of textbooks for the collection. However, many students were still unable to access many of their required texts. In response to student need and librarian request, the library received funds this year to purchase materials for the Textbook Reserves collection.
The library hopes that this collection will serve those students unable to afford or purchase their textbooks, and the library will evaluate the success of this effort each semester to ensure that available funds are optimized.
Read the library's Textbook Collection Development Guidelines to learn more about how items are selected for the collection. [PDF] If you have any questions, please contact the library.
Any faculty members that are still interested in helping out the collection may donate (temporarily or permanently) a copy of their textbook to the library at the Circulation desk.
