06/02/11 - Solano College Theatre Announces 2011-2012 Season
Fairfield, CA - Solano College Theatre is proud to announce its 2011-2012 Season. This season SCT will showcase "The American Experience" through a blend of music and drama. Each play has a unique take on the American story; every production offering its own image of America through its history, culture, and attitudes.Kicking off the season, SCT is bringing back the hit musical Always... Patsy Cline. A Solano College Theatre fan favorite, Always... Patsy Cline celebrates the powerful and poignant voice of 50's pop country singer Patsy Cline. It is an intimate and touching portrait of an enduring icon, filled with songs that make up the uniquely American soundtrack. This production will be staged in an intimate cabaret-style, complete with singing servers. Always... Patsy Cline will run from September 22 - October 9, 2011 at the Suisun Harbor Theatre.
For the Fall production, SCT veteran director George Maguire will bring Arthur Miller's dark American classic, The Crucible, to the stage. Set during the Salem Witch Trials, The Crucible creates a powerful allegory for McCarthyism and the abuse of authority. The Crucible will run from November 3 - November 20, 2011 at the Solano College Campus Theatre.
In February, music and dance arrive back at SCT with the swingin' hit Ain't Misbehavin'. Ain't Misbehavin' is a tribute to musical legend Thomas 'Fats' Waller and the Harlem Renaissance. Just in time for Black History Month, this Tony award-winning musical revue is a feel-good journey sweetened by the sounds of the Golden Age of Jazz. Ain't Misbehavin' will run from February 9 - 26, 2012 at the Solano College Campus Theatre.
Closing out the season, George Maguire returns as director to bring the celebrated 2007 Broadway show Distracted to the Harbor Theatre. Distracted is a witty and insightful tale of modern American parenting from acclaimed playwright and co-author of Girl Interrupted, Lisa Loomer. This offbeat comedy about overstimulated life in the Information Age is a fast-paced provocative ride. Distracted will run from April 5 - 22, 2012 at the Suisun Harbor Theatre.
Tickets to all shows are currently available for Solano College Theatre season subscribers. Subscribers may also take advantage of annual seat reservations, special VIP events, and advance notification of theatre announcements. Individual tickets for all productions will be on sale starting August 23, 2011 online at solanocollegetheatre.org, by phone at (707) 864-7100, or in person. The Solano College Theatre box office is located at the Harbor Theatre 720 Main Street, Suisun, CA. Box office hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
