2006 Athletic Hall of
Fame Banquet
The Solano College Hall of
Fame Banquet will be held on Monday night, October 16th at the
Fairfield Hilton Garden Inn. The no host cocktail hour will begin at
6:00 PM, with the banquet beginning at 7:00 PM. I thought everyone
would like to know that our own Gerry Fisher will be inducted into
the Hall of Fame. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale through
the Physical Education Division. Ticket sales end on October 6th.
Below is a list of the inductees for our 2006
Hall of Fame:
Ryan Adams-Baseball-98-00-He was an all conference shortstop
and pitcher in 2000. He was an all-State pick at shortstop, hitting
.429 with eight home runs. He went on to San Jose State University
where he started at shortstop for two years. He led the Spartans to
a #18 national ranking in 2002 with a 45-15 record. He currently is
a teacher in Vacaville.
Mark Cameron-Baseball -54-56-He was all conference and
all-Northern California as catcher. He hit .350 as a sophomore and
was Team-Captain. He went on to Fresno State where he was the
Team-Captain and MVP. In his senior year he was all-conference while
hitting .388. He taught and coached until 1963 when he became a CPA.
Currently he is a partner in one of the largest CPA firms in Fresno.
He was selected to the Fresno State Hall of Fame in 1993.
Kevin Darst-Baseball-76-78-He was all-conference and Captain
of the team while playing 2nd base in 1978. He was drafted three
times by the Oakland A’s. He hit .340 as a sophomore. The fourth
time he was drafted by the Giants and played with the Fresno Giants
in 1978. He currently works for Syar Industries in Benicia.
Gerry Fisher-Administrator/Booster-72-present-Gerry came to
Solano as an asst. football coach and Physical Education instructor.
He later became AD, Student Development Director, Dean of Admissions
and Records and is currently the VP of Student Services. During his
30+ years at Solano he has been on of the biggest supporters of
Solano Athletics in all of his roles as administrator and Booster
Club member.
Maria Slight-Swimming-89-90-She was an
All-America in five individual events and in the relay in 1990. She
was 2nd in the State in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke. She went on to
Cal Poly SLO where she was ranked #1 in Division II for the 200
breaststroke. She was also an academic All-America at Cal Poly. She
went on to Harvard University and is now in Health Care locally.
Chad Tigert-Football -88-91-Chad played fullback for SCC
during the 1989 and 1990 seasons. He was all-conference in 1990. He
earned a scholarship to Utah State where he started during the 1991
and 1992 seasons. He graduated in 1993 with a BS in Sociology. He
has been on the Fairfield Police Force since 1994. He is currently a
sergeant in charge of the Violent Crime Suppression Unit. He also
teaches at the Napa Valley College Police Academy. He has been
married for 19 years and has two children.
Erika Yongblood-Softball- 99-01-Erika was an all-conference
pitcher and Team MVP while at SCC. She was a Dean’s List student and
went on to Lynn University in Florida. At Lynn she was the #1
pitcher and later a graduate assistant coach. She is currently
getting into coaching as a career.
