ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 5040

POLICY:
Solano Community College is approved by the United States Department of Justice as an institution of higher learning for non-immigrant F-1 Visa students. Specific guidelines concerning international student admission and residency may be obtained from the Office of Admissions and Records.

ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Policy #5040


I. PROCEDURES

International students on an F-1 Visa may be admitted for the Fall and Spring semesters provided that the following documents are on file in the Office of Admissions and Records no later than June 1 for the Fall semester and November 1 for the Spring semester. International students can be admitted to the summer term on a case-by-case basis by the Dean of Admissions and Records.

a) File official transcripts from all secondary schools, universities, or professional schools. Transcripts must be accompanied by an official English translation.

b) Submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) A minimum score of 500 on paper-based test, or a score of 173 on the computer-based testis required for admission.

c) File a current declaration and certification of finances.

d) File a current certificate of health, including a tuberculin test. A copy of the health verification certificate submitted to immigration is acceptable provided it is not more than one year old.

e) Provide evidence of health and accident insurance protection.

f) Provide a local street address, not a post office box number, and social security numbers, if applicable.

g) Non-resident tuition is determined annually by the Governing Board. All fees are subject to change by the Board of Governors. Fees may be deferred and paid during the first 90 days of the semester as determined on a case-by-case basis by the Dean of Admissions and Records.

h) Students with an F-1 Visa must maintain enrollment in at least 12 semester units of academic work each semester and meet with the International Student Advisor prior to enrollment to review academic progress.
