Tutoring
Center Services

Individual and Group Tutoring
The primary mode of delivery for our tutoring services is through regularly
scheduled, on-going, individual and/or small group tutoring sessions, based
on tutor availability (i.e.,
students meet with the same tutor, at the same time every week, for the
entire semester). Students may meet with a tutor for help with
any one subject for up to three (3) hours per week. Tutoring in multiple subjects is allowed; however, students
may not schedule more than a maximum of five (5) hours of tutoring per week
for all subjects combined. Students who want to meet with a tutor must
complete all application forms and
bring them, in person, to the Tutoring Center to schedule their
appointments.
One-Time-Only
Tutoring
For students who need help understanding a specific assignment, reviewing
for a test, developing ideas for terms papers, etc., one-time-only
appointments are also an option. Based on tutor availability, students can
schedule appointments as needed to get the short-term assistance that they
need. As with other individual and group tutoring, students who want to meet
with a tutor on a one-time-only basis must complete all
application forms and bring them,
in person, to the Tutoring Center when scheduling their appointment.
Drop-In and Standby
Tutoring
Immediate assistance in a variety of subjects may also be available to
students who have not previously scheduled an appointment. Drop-in tutoring
hours vary by semester, and standby tutor availability changes daily.
Students wishing to utilize this type of tutoring must check with the
Tutoring Center for up-to-date details and must also complete all
application forms before tutoring
can take place.
ESL and Foreign
Language Conversation Groups
Students enrolled in ESL and foreign language classes can benefit greatly
from participating in conversation groups. The Tutoring Center can help to
facilitate the formation of such groups, based on tutor and group room
availability. As with all other Tutoring Center services, all
application forms must be completed
before joining a conversation group.
