General Questions
How do I get a listing/book of
your classes?
The Schedule of Classes is automatically mailed to all Solano County residents
approximately two weeks prior to the start of a registration period. Persons living
outside of Solano County may have their name and address placed on a mailing list
maintained by the Community Service Office.
How many units is considered full-time?
Twelve units is considered full-time during the Fall and Spring semesters. Six
units is considered full-time for the Summer session.
How do I contact an instructor?
Instructors are available by telephone through the appropriate
division office
(staff may provide telephone numbers using the Campus Telephone Directory.).
Students and staff can also refer to the list of phone numbers provided in the
current class schedule. Most instructors provide a means of contacting them via their class handouts at the beginning of the course.

What is a "W" grade?
A "W" stands for "withdrawal." Grade symbols of F (failing), NC (no
credit), and W (withdrawal) will not be considered as completed nor contributing to
satisfactory academic progress.
When does school start?
Always refer to the current class schedule and the
academic calendar for the
start of the semester and all registration dates and academic deadlines.
If school starts Monday, and I have a Tuesday class, do I have to go on
Monday?
Once the semester begins, you attend classes on the days those classes are scheduled to meet.
Is there bus service to the college? Is there bus service for
Benicia?...Winters? What kind of bus service will be available to the Vacaville Center?
There is bus service available from all cities in the County. However, traveling
from outlying communities, such as Benicia and Dixon, will require several transfers. There will be a bus stop adjacent to the Vacaville Center.
Bus schedules for transportation to Solano Community College and local routes are
available in Building 1400, Lobby area (next to R.S.V.P. phones) and outside of the
Student Development Office, Rm. 1409.

Where do I sign up for traffic
school?
Traffic school is offered through the Community Service Office. You may sign
up online, via phone by calling 864-7115, or you may register in person at the Community Service Office, Room 610, in the 600 Building.
How do I get in touch with my friend? He/she is taking a class at SCC.
Students registered at Solano Community College are protected by the Family Rights and
Privacy Act. Only in cases of extreme emergency, such as sudden illness or accident, may
students be contacted (by College staff) on campus. Call the Office of Admissions and
Records at 864-7171. Non-emergency messages will not be delivered.
Students should provide friends, relatives, etc., with their registration schedule
at their own discretion.
Where is the Lost and Found Department?
Lost and Found is located in the Student Development Office, Room 1403.
Reports of lost items are recorded and include an item description, name and
phone number. Items found on campus should be turned in to Room 1409. Lost items will be logged and attempts will be made to contact the owner (if
names are available).
During the Summer session, the
Student Services office staff, Room 433 in Building 400, manages Lost and
Found.

How/where do I get a refund for money lost in the vending machines?
Refunds from snack or soda machines are available in the Student
Development Office, Room 1409 in Building 1400. Pencil machines are serviced by the Bookstore.
I have housing for rent or need a roommate, what assistance is available?
There is a housing bulletin board located next to the Bookstore in Building
1400. Vacancy notice forms may be obtained from the Student
Development Office in Room 1409.
Where can I get assistance--I'm locked out of my car/need a jump start?
Campus Police provide limited assistance based on vehicle type.
How do I get information approved for posting on bulletin boards, and
what are the restrictions?
Posting approval is handled by the Student Development Office, Room 1409. All information is approved unless it is deemed obscene or in bad taste.
