Student Services FAQ
- Health Center

I already have insurance - why do I have to pay the health fee? What does it cover?

The health service fee is a required fee that was voted into effect by the Associated Students of Solano Community College (ASSC.) This fee covers the operating costs of the Student Health Center on the main campus.  Services are provided by a full-time nurse and staff during the Center's day and evening hours of operation. Students should refer to the Student Health Brochure for further information (available through the Student Development Office and the Health Center in Building 1400.)

Is there any kind of student health/dental insurance available?

The Health Center has brochures available for review; however, no endorsement is given for any of the programs available.

What kinds of medical tests can I get at the Health Center?

HIV testing--2nd Wed. and 2nd Friday of each month (free and anonymous); free pregnancy testing; cholesterol screen (a "ballpark" figure that will identify the need for medical follow-up); strep throat; HbB (hemoglobin test for iron); TB skin testing; hearing test.

What do I do in a case of a medical emergency? Who is responsible for disabled students in a medical emergency?

Call the Health Center, extension 163 or 306, or Campus Police, extension 369 or 9-9ll.

I need legal assistance...group home information...personal counseling help. Where can I go?

Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), Al-Anon and Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.) support is provided by the Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, at extension 347 on campus. Community assistance is available through Legal Aid and First Call for Help.
