SUCCESS Consortium

The SUCCESS (Solano University and Community College Educational Support Services) Consortium has been “developing young achievers since 1979”. SUCCESS is one of sixteen Consortia that constitute the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP). Cal-SOAP is administered by the California Student Aid Commission. SUCCESS consists of member educational institutions and community organizations.

Our program supports the college preparation efforts of students with low income, and/or representing first generation college attendees, and/or from schools in geographic areas with low college eligibility and attendance rates. We primarily work with students in grades 4 through 12, and those interested in transferring to a four-year college from member community colleges.

SUCCESS Consortium has three strands of Educational Support Services:

Direct Student Services

  • At member public schools and selected community agencies/organizations throughout Solano, Napa, Southern Yolo, and parts of Sacramento counties in small groups, one-on-one sessions, or classroom presentations, SUCCESS Advisors and Academic Facilitators (college students acting as role models) share information, encouragement and academic skill building activities with students in grades 4 through 12 and community college. Activities include, but are not limited to, assistance in completing admissions, financial aid, and Cal-Grant applications, field trips to tour colleges/universities in the area, SAT/ACT preparation classes, tutoring and academic skill building workshops.

  • The SUCCESS Transfer Assistance Program (STAP) at Solano Community College, Sacramento City College and Napa Valley College assists students who wish to transfer to four-year colleges/universities to continue their education as part of the Cal-SOAP Transfer Making It Happen Program (TMIH).

  • Academic Achievement Awards are given for outstanding academic achievement to students who participate in SUCCESS activities each year. Certificates are provided to all ages and two seniors from each participating High School and Community College also are awarded a scholarship in addition to the award.
