To
identify if your battery is affected:
Check if your specific
battery PPID (Dell Part Piece Identification) is
affected. This step is necessary to identify if your
battery is affected. Only some batteries within each
model are affected. These part numbers are printed on
the back of the battery packs as illustrated below. Turn
your laptop over and remove the battery. Look for a
label similar to the one below and report the circled
number to the Helpdesk via e-mail to
Helpdesk@solano.edu.
Please report your number
whether or not it matches the one circled below.

We will collect and
record these numbers and compare them to a list Dell is
preparing for us showing all the laptops and batteries
we have purchased so we can identify the affected
batteries.
Dell will then make
arrangements replace the batteries through Technology
Services & Support.
Although the incident
reported in the news is an isolated case, the
possibility for explosion does exist. If you have
concerns about the battery in your laptop remove the
battery and use the laptop with the AC adapter until a
replacement battery is received. |
