Smart Classroom FAQ's


Why don't/doesn't my wireless keyboard and/or mouse work?
  • Make sure the wireless keyboard/mouse in on. Move switch to the I symbol, located underneath.


  • Make sure the wireless keyboard and mouse sync with the Bluetooth receiver by pressing the Bluetooth button located underneath.


  • The wireless keyboard/mouse may require new batteries.
    • I plugged my laptop into the smart panel and I have video but why don't I have any sound?
  • You need to have an 1/8th" male/male audio cable connecting your laptop's headphone/line out jack to the audio in jack on the smart panel.


  • Make sure the volume level on your laptop and on the smart panel are turned up.
    • The projector is on but why don't I have any sound?
  • Make sure the Master Control volume is on (displays a green light) and then check the volume levels.


  • Make sure the volume levels on the computer and on the smart panel are turned up.


  • Inside the smart panel cabinet, there is an auxiliary volume controller located on top or near the subwoofer. Make sure it is turned up about a third of the way. Caution: Do not turn this all the way up. When the sound comes on it will be loud!


  • Make sure the Closed Caption Device is turned on(red light). This is a small box about 12" wide by 1" tall.
    • I pressed the projector button but it's not displaying anything on the screen. What do I do now?
    Press and hold the projector button for several seconds. The projector takes a few moments to warm up before displaying. If after a few minutes it's still not coming on, contact the Helpdesk using our easy online form, email helpdesk@solano.edu, or by phone (ext: 4690)
    Why isn't there any sound when playing a DVD or VHS cassette?
  • Make sure the Aux Audio button is off.


  • Make sure the Master Control volume is on (displays a green light) and then check the volume level.


  • Make sure the Closed Caption Device is turned on(red light). This is a small box about 12" wide by 1" tall.

  • Make sure the Aux Audio button is on (should be blue).

  • Make sure Smart Panel is on DVD/VCR.


  • Make sure Closed Captioning unit is on (displays a red light).
    • Why isn't the document camera showing on the screen?
  • Make sure Smart Panel is on Document Camera.


  • Make sure Document Camera is on (displays a blue light).
    • Why won't my document camera focus?
  • Press the auto focus button (white button).


  • Make sure you dim room light and block out sunlight.
    • Where do I obtain keys for the Smart Panel cabinet?
    Contact the dean or administrator of the department the cabinet is located in for keys.
