How
much are the fees?
See
Fee
Payment/Refund. (Your fees may be waived with a
Board
of Governors’ Grant --BOGG).

Site offers information about all their programs, services,
eligibility, grants, loans, and scholarships. Contact them

How
many classes should I take?
Most students who have a job
working more than 20 hours a week need to be part-time students
(see Chart below).
To be a fulltime student,
you will need one of the following:
-
12 units during Fall and Spring semesters
(for example, four 3-unit lecture classes)
-
6 units in the Summer session
-
3 units during Intersession (if offered)
A
"unit" means the number of credits, and the hours a lecture
and discussion
class meets per week. Most lecture classes are 3 units.
Plan
on 2+ hours of study for each unit, so being a fulltime student is
like having a fulltime job:
12
units + 24-28 + hours of study = 36-40 hours a week to be a fulltime
student
If
you already work at a fulltime job (40 hours per week), plan to
take six units your first semester.

traditional times that 3-unit lecture classes are offered
for the full Fall and Spring semesters are:

A Weekend
College class may meet both Friday evenings and Saturdays
for six weeks – check the listed days and dates.
Some
shorter-term classes are offered each semester. Watch
for beginning and ending dates listed underneath the class section
in the schedule.
Many are offered at Travis
Air Force Base.
See the Falcon
Fastrac (Late-Start) classes listed in the schedule.
If an Intersession term is offered, a fulltime student would
take just one class.
We also offer Easy Access (Open-Entry/Open-Exit) classes which you can enter late or
complete early.
(For
a list, see the Table of Contents in the Schedule of Classes.)
Where
can I take classes?
How can I plan my schedule so I can see how the
classes fit together?
Here’s
a
Schedule Planner
(PDF format; size: 4.29KB) to print and
enter your:
-
Class
times
-
2
hours study for each hour in class
-
Work
hours (paid, volunteer, at home)
How do I register for classes?
To reserve your
place in a class, you must register (or enroll, or signup).
As
you select classes, check the locations!
Be sure you don’t choose an
8:00 a.m. class in Vallejo, 9:00 in Suisun, 10:00 in Vacaville!
THE TEN MINUTES BETWEEN CLASSES IS ENOUGH ON THE MAIN
SUISUN VALLEY CAMPUS, BUT NOT BETWEEN CENTERS.
When can I register?
For Summer Session, register in May
and June.
For Fall Semester, register in July and August.
For Spring Semester, register in December and January. |

Always refer to
the current Schedule of Classes for dates and times of
registration and for information regarding all important academic
deadlines. Register during your 6-hour Priority time for
best class availability. See the Schedule of Classes and the
chart of Registration Priorities on the Online Services
page.

Dates and Deadlines
A few days
before classes begin, Late Registration begins and you need
an ADD code to register. Go to class on the day and time it
meets to request an ADD code from the instructor.
See “What if a
class I want is closed?” at the bottom of this page.
What
is the meaning of the course information in the Schedule of
Classes?
Here’s
how to read and understand the course information in the Schedule
of Classes (If you are using a compatible
browser, you will see a description as you move your mouse over
the various parts.):

Am
I required to complete the prerequisite listed in the
schedule or catalog for a class I want?
Yes, a
prerequisite is required.
If the schedule says the class
has Prerequisites,
the computer will block your registration unless you had this
class at Solano College with the same course number.
If you
completed the prerequisite class in high school (algebra, for
instance) or at another college, you must provide a transcript
(your copy is OK) or grade report to be entered in the computer
either by:
See other ways
to meet
Prerequisites.
How
about a Course Advisory?
It is advised,
but not required, to have successfully completed another course or
achieved a determined test score
first. You are more likely to be successful in class if you
have the skills advised.

(or

What if a class I want is closed (full)?
Sometimes the
class in which you wish to enroll is closed (full). Don’t
panic! Here are some suggestions:
-
Try the
same class but at a different time.
-
When
meeting with a counselor, ask them to give you some alternate
class suggestions.
-
Choose
another class that will meet the same requirement.
-
DURING LATE
REGISTRATION, TRY TO ADD THE CLASS!! You must attend the
class and ask the permission of the instructor to add the
class. The instructor will either give you an Add Code
(a 4-digit number), or they will sign an Add Card or Add
Slip. If given an add code, you can add the class
on the Web at Online Services or through the telephone RSVP system (as long as your enrollment
fees for other classes have been paid). If the
instructor signs the Add Card or Add Slip, you must enroll in
person at the
Office of Admission and Records.
What if I change my mind or cannot attend a class?
Once you have
registered for a class, if you will not complete the class, it is
your responsibility to officially drop (withdraw) from it by:

If you stop
attending without withdrawing, you can be given an F grade on
your official transcript, which
could cause problems down the road.
There are some
specific drop dates.
See
Important Dates and Deadlines

information, contact the
Office of Admissions and Records.
