Rights and Responsibilities as a Student

Matriculation  is both a right and a responsibility.  You are now completing the Orientation component of matriculation. 
 

What are my rights as a student?

Your CIVIL RIGHTS and the right of PRIVACY OF YOUR STUDENT RECORD are described in detail under Student Rights.

Police WomanThe College is committed to maintaining a positive learning environment for all students.  Any negative behavior, threats or sexual harassment will not be tolerated and should be reported to campus staff members or the Campus Police.

If you feel your rights have been denied, please see the Student Grievance process.  The policy regarding Sexual Harassment is also listed.

One thing not subject to the Grievance Policy is your grade in a class.

  • Any request for a Change of Grade is to be submitted directly to the instructor within one year.

  • The Academic Council considers extenuating circumstances for up to four years.

What are my responsibilities as a student? 

  • Attendance and Participation is required to be successful in your classes.  

     

  • Official withdrawal from classes or college is your personal responsibility.  You can drop classes by RSVP telephone or at Online Services on the Web, as well as in person. Click above for details.Report Card - F

    Your college transcript is a life-long record. If you can no longer attend a class, withdraw to avoid an F grade.
     

  • Academic Honesty is required of each student.Student Behavior

     

  • Student Conduct and Discipline  describes expected conduct and grounds for disciplinary action.
