CATALOG DESCRIPTION AND OTHER CATALOG INFORMATION
9a. Catalog Description:
An individualized beginning keyboarding course taught on the microcomputer. Touch typing is developed on the alphabet, punctuation, symbols, and top row number keys. Speed will be built to a minimum of 30 words per minute. Units of study include production of documents such as correspondence, memos, reports and tables in standard formats.

This is an open entry/open exit, variable unit course.
   
10. Student Performance Objectives:
As a result of successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate mastery of the alpha and numeric typewriting keyboard in the keyboarding of correspondence, manuscripts, and compositions under timed conditions with established accuracy standards.
2. Achieve a minimum keyboarding speed of 30 wpm on timed writings.
3. Demonstrate mastery of the alpha and numeric keyboard using proper techniques while being observed by the instructor.
   
11. Methods of Evaluating Student Achievement:
Observations, timed writings, production tests, and objective tests will require students to demonstrate the touch keyboarding skills needed for routine office tasks, school assignments, and personal use. There will also be an evaluation of overall performance.
