CATALOG DESCRIPTION AND OTHER CATALOG INFORMATION
9a. Catalog Description:
A study of the pathological process, imparting basic knowledge to paramedical personnel. The student will study the basic concepts, terminology, etiology and characteristics of pathological processes. Diseases are classified according to both causative agents and the body system to which they relate.

10. Student Performance Objectives:
As a result of successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:

1. Describe the basic functions of the human body organ systems and their interrelationships.
2. Apply the principles of medical terminology to the description of the processes of disease and injury.
3. Describe the basic concepts and characteristics of the disease process.
4. Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between the specific disease process and the classical (physical) signs it produces.
   
11. Methods of Evaluating Student Achievement:
Quizzes, essays, objective and practical exams will test the student's knowledge of medical terminology, the basic functions of the body, and the characteristics of disease and be able to demonstrate understanding of the interrelationships.
