CATALOG DESCRIPTION AND OTHER CATALOG INFORMATION
9a. Catalog Description:
Upon registration in English 310, each student's writing sample will be used to identify individual writing problems, and an individualized program will be designed to provide instruction in those problem areas. Credit will be earned upon successful completion and mastery of the student's course of study and an appropriate number of hours as specified in each student's contract.

10. Student Performance Objectives:
As a result of successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:

(Depending on an individualized course of study) write standard English sentences, paragraphs, and/or essays; understand and correctly use basic grammar, sentence structure, and mechanics (spelling, punctuation, capitalization).
   
11. Methods of Evaluating Student Achievement:
Successful completion of five to seven writing assignments and supplementary exercises (based on each student's individualized program of study and contract) per 0.5 unit of credit within a specified minimum number of class hours.

13. Course Content Outline:
The scope covers a wide variety of writing problems (see course content outline) faced by college students. The levels of instruction offered will range from developmental to college level.

The individualized course of study will depend upon a student's entry-level knowledge and needs. Based on a writing sample, for each 1/2 unit, a student will be assigned a minimum of 5 to 7 writing assignments with supplementary exercises to be completed in a specified minimum number of hours from the following areas:
