Orientation

Welcome to Solano Community College!

Start your college journey strong by attending Orientation. Research shows that students who participate in orientation are more likely to succeed in college—and we want you to have the best possible start!

Most new students are required to complete Orientation. However, you may be exempt if you:

  • Already hold an Associate Degree or higher

  • Are enrolling only in non-credit courses

  • Have an educational goal of:

    • Job skills (to maintain current employment)

    • Personal interest (not for employment)

    • Completing high school credits

    • Maintaining a certificate or license (e.g., Nursing, Real Estate)

If you believe you qualify for an exemption, email your SCCID# to admissions@solano.edu to request an appeal.

What You’ll Learn in Orientation

  • General Education requirements

  • Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

  • Programs and Certificates

  • How to choose classes

  • How to read the class schedule and catalog

  • How to register for classes

  • How to plan your path to academic success

We encourage you to take advantage of Orientation—it’s your first step toward a successful and rewarding experience at Solano Community College!

You can take orientation online or in-person at the Fairfield Main Campus. Please note: Our online orientation is currently under construction and will be available in October 2025.
