Office of Student Services

students

At Solano Community College, we’re here to make sure you have the tools, resources, and support you need to succeed—not just in the classroom, but in every part of your college journey. The Office of Student Services brings together programs and services designed to guide, empower, and support you, no matter what your goals or challenges may be.

From Academic Support like Admissions & Records, Counseling, tutoring, and transfer guidance, to Accessibility Services that ensure every student can learn without barriers, we’re here to help you stay on track. We also connect you with Career and Employment Resources, Financial Support such as aid, scholarships, and zero-cost textbook programs, and Health and Wellbeing services, including our Student Health and Wellness Centers.

Our One-Stop Services address basic needs like food, housing, and technology, while Student Life gives you ways to connect and lead through student government, clubs, and honor societies. And with Support Programs like EOPS, CalWORKs, SOAR, Veterans’ Services, and more, you’ll always have a community to turn to.

Whatever kind of support you need, Student Services is here to walk beside you every step of the way.

The mission of Student Services at Solano Community College is to build a student-centered, holistic community of support and resources guided by the principles of collaboration, equity, and social justice.  We are committed to dismantling barriers and ensuring that our student support services represent the diverse needs, broad interests, and lived experiences of our campus populations.  We are dedicated to empowering each student to realize their personal, educational and career goals through customer service excellence grounded in kindness, empathy, and respect.

The Academic Council is a committee that reviews student petitions related to academic performance, enrollment or registration issues, graduation evaluations, and certain financial matters tied to registration. The Council is made up of the Vice Presidents of Academic and Student Affairs (or designee), an Academic Dean, the Dean of Admissions and Records, one academic counselor, two faculty members, and one classified staff member from Student Services.

Students may petition the Council if they are facing academic disqualification, need to address enrollment or withdrawal procedures, or have other academic concerns. Petitions are available through Admissions + Records, Counseling, the Vallejo and Vacaville Centers, or online, and must be submitted to Admissions + Records. An academic counselor’s review and signature are required for disqualification petitions.

The Council meets before each term and reviews all petitions, and makes decisions by a majority vote. All decisions are final and are recorded in the student’s permanent academic record. Students are notified in writing of the outcome, and special program coordinators (such as EOPS or DSP) are informed if the decision affects their participants.

Petitions for Academic Council can be found on the Admissions + Records Forms page.
