CalWORKs Program
The SCC CalWORKs Program supports parenting students as they move from public assistance to long-term self-sufficiency through higher education. Working in partnership with county agencies, we provide case management, counseling, childcare, transportation, work-study opportunities, and more. Our goal is to help you succeed academically, achieve your educational goals, and build a strong foundation for your future.
Childcare Services
- Your childcare costs are 100% covered:
- ✓ On-campus childcare services (SCC Early Learning Center)
- ✓ Community-based childcare services
Copy and Print Center
- Printer and copy machine available at no cost to you as a SCC CalWORKs Program student.
Cost for Textbooks
- As a SCC CalWORKs Program student, the cost for your required textbooks and supplies are 100% covered.
Counseling and Guidance
- Academic and Career Counseling
- Personal and Confidential Counseling
- Develop an Ed Plans
- Referrals for on/off campus services
- Support and Advocacy with County CalWORKs offices
- Personal and Career Development Seminars and Workshops

SCC CalWORKs Program Grant
- Based on available funds, the SCC CalWORKs Program offers grants to our students.
School Supplies
- Need a bookbag, calculator, notebooks, pens, highlighters, etc.? Our office will provide you with school supplies at no cost to you as a SCC CalWORKs Program student.
Textbook Loan Service
Transportation to SCC
- As a SCC CalWORKs Program student, your roundtrip transportation costs to school are 100% covered.
Work-Study Program
- SCC CalWORKs Work-Study program will not reduce your County cash aid!
- Match you with an on-campus job while in school
- Gain work experience related to your academic or career goal!
To qualify for the SCC CalWORKs Program, you must …
- Receive cash aid benefits for yourself and at least one child through your County CalWORKs office.
- Receive a referral from your County CalWORKs office.
- Have a current Welfare-To-Work2 Plan (WTW2).
To maintain eligibility in the SCC CalWORKs Program, you must …
- Keep your Student Education Plan (SEP) up-to-date.
- Meet with the CalWORKs Counselor at least two (2) times each semester.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress at the college (2.0 GPA or higher).
