Extended Opportunity Programs + Services (EOPS)
About EOPS
The EOPS program’s primary goal is to encourage the enrollment, retention and transfer of students disadvantaged by language, social, economic and educational circumstances, and to facilitate the successful completion of their goals and objectives in college.
EOPS provides students with support services that includes counseling, Student Educational Plan (SEP), program review requirements, referrals, and financial assistance (contingent on the availability of EOPS funds), EOPS Lab, EOPS Library, and other student success assistance. Our EOPS students will receive focused assistance related to their academic planning and career goals.
Under EOPS, there are additional programs to provide additional support to your academic success. Please note there is one application for EOPS, CARE, and NextUp. Please see the summary of eligibility requirements below.

In 1969, SB164 was enacted into Law, which established EOPS to help underrepresented students in all 116 California Community Colleges. In 1982, the state established the Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) program under the EOPS umbrella. The CARE program is designed to help support single parent (head of household) EOPS students who are receiving public assistance (CalWORKs/TANF) achieve their academic and personal success.
To apply for the CARE program, please reach out to the EOPS office directly.
